NAP has over 3000 members in the United States and internationally. This makes us part of the largest professional non profit association of parliamentarians in the world.

Our primary goal is to study, teach, promote and disseminate the principles and rules of parliamentary procedure, as found in the current edition of Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised.

The Aloha-‘Ohana Parliamentary Unit of Hawai‘i meets monthly on O‘ahu to study parliamentary procedure and to promote the educational program of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF PARLIAMENTARIANS® (NAP) locally. The unit actively promotes the upgrading of members' expertise in the field of parliamentary procedure.

Some of the members of the Unit are Professional Registered Parliamentarians (see Star-Bulletin article of March 2007), but many are students of Parliamentary Procedure just beginning their study.

We pride ourselves on being a warm & friendly group of people who welcome people of all backgrounds and skill levels.

"Aloha" means love, affection, and acceptance. "‘Ohana" is the Hawaiian word for family, kith & kin. We chose this name for our Unit to emphasize our inclusive and welcoming support for each other.
