The word "Pono" means righteousness, correctness, and moral balance in Hawaiian. It describes a state where things are as they should be. Not just technically correct, but deeply right. When a Hawaiian says something is pono, they mean it is fair, just, and in harmony with the natural and social order.
the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF PARLIAMENTARIANS® (NAP) has over 3000 members in the United States and internationally. This makes us part of the largest professional non profit association of parliamentarians in the world.
At all levels, our primary goal is to study, teach, promote and disseminate the principles and rules of parliamentary procedure, as found in the current edition of Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised.
The Pono Parliamentary Unit of Hawai‘i meets monthly online to study parliamentary procedure and to promote the educational program of the NAP locally. Pono unit actively promotes the upgrading of members' expertise in the field of parliamentary procedure.
Some of the members of the Unit are just interested in learning enough parliamentary procedure to better participate in their clubs or organizations, but others are seeking professional credentials so they can serve as parliamentarians whom the NAP awards awards the ranks of Registered or Professional Registered Parliamentarians. Many are students of Parliamentary Procedure just beginning their study.
We pride ourselves on being a warm & friendly group of people who welcome people of all backgrounds and skill levels.
The Next Unit Meeting will be on
